CRF's extensive network on volunteers, fosters, transporters and veterinarians and vet specialists are alerted and all health and wellness issues are addressed starting with medically evaluating each dogs.Īside from providing comfort and care, Cavalier surrenders are brought into CRF certified foster homes, where they are lovingly made part of the family, however briefly. Fosters are tasked with learning and evaluating the surrender's behavior, habits and needs. This focus led the organization to become Cavalier Rescue of Florida, Inc. Starting in 1997 as Mid-Florida Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club Rescue (MFCKCSC Rescue), certified by the AKC to rescue, the club quickly made its focus rescuing CKCS in need. There is always a cost associated with acquiring a Cavalier that requires a new home.Ĭurrently, we have a long waiting list of people wanting a Cavalier in need of a new home.Cavalier Rescue of Florida is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal rescue, organized to benefit Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in need. Some of these costs are passed on to the respective adopter. When we do rehome these dogs, the Veterinary care they require and any other costs are taken into consideration. Most Cavalier owners contact their breeder directly if they can’t keep their dog for any reason, and the breeder will take the dog back and, if possible, rehome him/her. Very often, they are not suitable for a home with young children. They are usually older dogs and sometimes they will have health concerns. ![]() The Club averages only one or two dogs per year that need to be rehomed. Cavaliers come into Rescue for many reasons but often it is an older person, who is no long able to care for their pet. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Canada will occasionally be contacted requesting help to rehome a Cavalier. ![]()
